MANIFESTO

Between sky and stones.

Our story, what we're building, and why we keep going.

01 — The origin

A foreign runner with no local network at the foot of UTMB.

goodborning was born from a concrete frustration: every summer, thousands of foreign runners cross the Atlantic or the Channel to line up at UTMB, Marathon du Mont-Blanc, Maxi-Race. They land in Chamonix or Annecy with a bib, a suitcase full of gels, and nobody on the ground to hand them an aid bag at km 84 at 3 a.m.

We started from the same observation: trail running is a deeply local sport. Official aid stations exist but don't cover everything. Family doesn't always want to spend 36 hours awake through the night. Private crew, when it exists, is found by word of mouth — and word of mouth, by definition, excludes those who don't have a local mouth.

02 — The obsession

Become the Tripadvisor / Michelin Guide of trail running.

We don't want to build "a race website". We want to build THE global reference database for trail running. Every race has its listing, its GPX track, its detailed aid stations, its finisher rate, its cutoffs, reviews from runners who actually finished it.

A goodborning race listing should answer in 30 seconds: if I sign up, what am I going to live? How long will I spend out there? What do I need to bring? Who can help me on the ground? Everything a future starter is trying to understand before clicking "Register", we aggregate, we structure, we make it legible.

03 — The double pillar

A database that fuels a marketplace.

The founding insight of goodborning is that these two pillars aren't independent — they reinforce each other. The SEO of the database brings traffic. Runners landing on the UTMB listing want more than a Wikipedia page: they want to project themselves, to prepare, to find a local crew member who speaks their language.

That's why we're building the AI estimator, the nutrition plan, the crew marketplace — not as isolated tools but as the logical continuation of the race listing. Each feature plugs into the runner journey: pick your race → estimate your time → prepare your nutrition → find your crew. One platform, from bib to finish line.

04 — The ambition

From the first 10 km to the last 350 km.

We start with France and Europe because that's where we know the ground and have access to organizers. But we're building from day one for the entire world: multi-language, multi-country, multi-format architecture. From Marathon du Mont-Blanc to Diagonale des Fous, from Western States to UTHF, from SaintéLyon to Hardrock — every iconic trail deserves its listing, and every runner — beginner on 15 km or 350 km record-holder — deserves the same quality of information.

05 — The promise

Honest, useful, no bullshit.

No empty gamification. No fake reviews. No AI-generated "top 10 trails" for SEO. Every piece of data we publish, we've verified — with the organizer, in the official ITRA / UTMB / B-Trail databases, or with runners who actually ran the race.

goodborning is a project built by runners for runners. We fail if the first thing a runner feels when landing on the site is that we're trying to sell them something. We succeed if the first thing they feel is that, finally, someone has done the work.

Where kilometers are earned. Where encounters happen. Where pain meets the dream. Nothing is given, nothing is taken, everything flows and is shared.
