The Pyrenees offer wilder, less waymarked trails with a more intimate atmosphere. The elevation gains are comparable but the maximum altitudes are lower (3,000 m max vs 4,800 m).

The Grand Raid des Pyrenees (160 km, 10,500 D+) is the benchmark. A legendary race in the Hautes-Pyrenees with high-altitude passages and an authentic mountain atmosphere.
