Course
The Obiou rises above the Dévoluy at 2,790 meters, an isolated limestone massif that cartographers have nicknamed the French Dolomites. The UTOBI circles this summit over 73.5 kilometers and 4,232 meters of elevation gain, starting and finishing in the village of Saint-Disdier in the Hautes-Alpes. Ninety-five percent of the route runs on single track: warm limestone slabs, lapiaz, larch forests, exposed cols with views of the Écrins and Vercors.
The Dévoluy is a compact, rarely-run massif; its white limestone contrasts with the green granite of neighboring ranges. Summer storms arrive fast and violent here. The race runs July 25, 2026, with a 6:00 AM start. Solo or two-person relay format, with handoff at Tréminis (km 46.9). The density of natural trail, technical rocky passages, and consistently high average altitude — rarely below 1,500 meters — make this a demanding ultra for under 80 kilometers.
